About the islands
If you visit Takamatsu as a tourist, everybody will recommend you to go to one, or many, of the beautiful islands around Takamatsu. Seto Inland Sea is a sea surrounded by the main island of Japan, Shikoku and Kyūshū. This region is called “Land of the nice weather”, due to the moderate climate and low rainfall. In addition to the atmosphere on these islands it is much more peaceful than in the crowded cities, which is why also local Japanese people choose them for their weekend trips, especially during summer.
The islands which you can go to from Takamatsu are Naoshima, Teshima, Megijima, Ogijima, Oshima and Shodoshima.
How do we get to the islands?
There are two ferry terminals near the Takamatsu Station, the biggest train station in Takamatsu. Depending on which island you want to go to and depending on if you go by ferry or High Speed Boat, you need to choose the right one, but don’t worry, all signs are well explained in English.
Boarding Station #1 and #2 is a bit more north
Boarding Station #3 and #4 is a bit more South
Buying tickets is really easy since the ticket counters are separated into destinations, so there is no mixing up of destinations or ferries.
We hope you have an amazing time in Takamatsu and enjoy the beautiful things the islands have to offer!
